It is where someone held this with their thumb so many times it rubbed the cover. NO Writing in Calendar days.The picture of Glorfindel fighting a frightening Balrog is amazing. Glorfindel is one of Tolkien's finest achievements in understated character power. Except for Legolas the movie Two Towers made the Elves like space men that Tolkien would have hated.
