A collection of short stories of mythology, culture of the various countries, and fairytales. While the title page says printed 1940, V back of the frontispiece has an inscription printed 9880/60-1. I would suggest that this is a later printing. Softening of the back strip edges with a little rubbing of the book edges with bumping of the lower book corners. Blue coloured ink stain to the front panel with stains and handling marks to the rear panel stop browning and foxing of the text block edges with browning of the pages. Previous owners name to the top edge of the title page. Remnants of tape can be seen to the end pages and there is offset tanning also present. Second Edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
