The text is illustrated with coloured illustrations of various incendiary shells. Plaintext paperback binding which is held together with rope and metal toggles. As the title would suggest a description of the various military shells used during World War I, 1918, and their make up and components. This is an ex-library book, from the Munitions Supply Board Library. Library stamps, along with cancellation stamps to the front panel, first page, and various pages throughout, verso of the rear panel and to the front text edge. Creasing of the book corners with rubbing of the book edges and panels. Some foxing and staining is also present to the book panels and there is fading to the right hand edge of the rear panel. Age toning of the text block edges also shows foxing. A little foxing, though surprisingly not much, to the pages. Some staining to the top edge of the pages to "Shell, 3".
