Title: Short Stories and the Tragedy and Comedy of Life, Vols. I and II
Description: New York: Review Of Reviewers Company, 1903. Hardcover. Guy de Maupassant was a very private person, not revealing to fellow writers or others his inner conflicts. They show in his writing, however. These two volumes of short stories indicate his nervousness and feelings of terror along with romance. Both volumes are purple with sun faded spines which have turned blue. The lettering on the spine of Vol. I is more legible that on II. Otherwise, both are the same in wear. Both have gilt page tops, moderate spine wear, and wear to spine ends. Volume I has a frontispiece with the lettered tissue intact. On Vol. II, there is a bit of white in two places, one partly over the colophon. ; 12mo over 6 3/4" - 7 3/4"; 664 pages. Very Good with no dust jacket .
