Includes reporting on the marriage of Princess Helena (daughter of Queen Victoria) to Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein; the Third Italian War of Independence; the laying of a transatlantic telegraph cable; and the marriage of Alexander, future czar of Russia, to Princess Dagmar of Denmark. Among the many beautiful engravings are a two-page spread depicting Prussian soldiers parading in front of the Brandenburg Gate, the opening of a new synagogue in Berlin, and Paris fashions for ladies.
