Title: Vintage Scrapbook of Early 20th Century Art & Fashion
Description: Hardcover. A large hardcover book bound in green cloth. Hazy grey discoloration on spine and on corners of back cover. Edges lightly rubbed. Pages are slightly brittle with age; some have closed tears near the gutter or on the edges. Occasional pasted-in clippings are peeling off or fully detached; the majority are still attached. The last quarter or so of the pages are unused and blank. The binding is tight. An original scrapbook containing pasted-in clippings of beautiful artwork, presumably taken from magazines, depicting fashionable ladies and other scenes representative of early 20th century art and fashion. Contains an eye-catching and colorful array of Art Deco style, as well as a wide range of indoor domestic scenes, outdoor scenes, and lavish home interiors. Among the artists represented are Edward Trumbull and Jessie Willcox Smith --- features several examples of the latter's illustrations of children's book characters, such as Alice in Wonderland and Mowgli from THE JUNGLE BOOK. This being a personal item compiled by an anonymous individual over time, there is no publication date or publisher, but a gift inscription inside the front cover is dated 1925. Measures approx. 12.5" x 10.75. Good .
