Front and back covers are completely detached. Edges and spine are very heavily scuffed. Old sticker in the middle of the spine with number 12 handwritten on it. A few library stamps and markings inside. Newsprint smudges here and there as well. Very small, old address label on each issue's front cover. Black ink spot on an illustration of lace on page 328. The pages are brittle with age and will chip or tear if not handled gently. Pages 7-10 are detaching; closed tear in 9-10. Additional closed tears in pages 43, 139, 341, and 773. Bottom corners bent and chipped on pages 257-340. Light stains on pages 357-358 and 773-778. OFFERED AS-IS. Volume 12 of the ladies' fashion magazine HARPER'S BAZAR (later spelled HARPER'S BAZAAR), containing all weekly issues from January 4 through December 27, 1879. Filled with lots of excellent black and white engravings of women's fashions, hairstyles, and more. Features a 2-page illustration of Santa Claus flying through the sky on his sleigh (has a closed tear at the top); a portrait of Alice, Duchess of Hesse and her daughter Marie, shortly after their deaths by diptheria; a portrait of Martha Washington; a 2-page illustration by Myles Birket Foster called "If I Had a Donkey that Would Go"; a 2-page spread depicting ladies training at a cooking school; a 2-page portrait of surviving officers of the Battle of Trafalgar; an obituary for Sarah Josepha Hale, the editor of GODEY'S LADY'S BOOK; and a portrait of the Prince and Princess of Wales and their family on the cover of the August 30 issue.
