Volume 65 of THE ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS, containing issues from July 4 through December 26, 1874, along with the 32-page Christmas edition of December 16. Includes reporting on the Spanish Civil War, a column on page 151 explaining the game of baseball (which was new to England at the time), and a visit to Iceland by King Christian IX of Denmark. Among the many fine engravings are a depiction of the Boston Red Stockings and Athletic Club of Philadelphia playing baseball at Prince's Garden, Brompton; a portrait of the crucified Christ; a portrait of Empress Maria Alexandrovna of Russia; and a two-page spread of the Battle of Trafalgar.
