The Argentine poet Estanislao del Campo (1834-1880) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His family were members of the unitarian political party which favored a strong central government rather than a federation, and del Campo fought in the battles of Cepeda and Pavon. His 1866 satirical poem "Fausto" describes the thoughts and impressions of a gaucho, an Argentinian cowboy who watches Gounod's opera "Faust" believing the events to be actually happening. A street in Buenos Aires is named after him and a small cotton-producing town in the Formosa province of Argentina is also named Estanislao del Campo. Good .
