The son of an army officer who died in the Second World War, Jurgen Vollmer (born in 1939), met the Beatles in the early 1960's when he was attending Hamburg's Institute of Fashion. At that time, The Beatles who were performing in Germany, still included drummer Pete Best and bassist Stu Sutcliffe. Becoming one of the group's photographers in their leather-clad days, Vollmer's iconic photos so impressed John Lennon that he later used one of them as the cover for his 1975 album "Rock 'n' Roll". Vollmer also later worked as a Hollywood set photographer. Very good .
