Description: [Circa late 1970s]. [Circa late 1970s]. Fine. - The 29-7/8 inch high by 20 inch wide lithographic collage on a 31 inch high by 23 inch wide fine art paper consists of images and patterns lithographed on layers of tissue and paper. The abstract image, constructed of consecutive layers, consists of a beautiful yellow flower cut out and partially laid over an indigo rectangle. This rectangle is laid over purple tissue which is mounted over the lower half of the print. Above the flower, its shadow is lithographed on dark maroon tissue. Columns of dark red tissue over a deep red base form the backdrop of the upper half of the print. Fine. The Canadian artist Dwight Dayman was associated with the Castelli Galery in New York City in 1970. He was a frequent visiting artist at the Western Front Society in Vancouver. Dayman died of AIDS at a young age. An artist run center based in Vancouver, BC, the Western Front Society was founded by several Canadian artists in 1973. The 8 founding members Martin Bartlett, Mo van Nostrand, Kate Craig, Henry Greenhow, Glenn Lewis, Eric Metcalfe, Michael Morris and Vincent Trasov sought to create a space to explore and create new forms of art.
