A marine painter who expertly captured the sea and shore, Eugene Louis Boudin (1824-1898) was the first French Landscape painter to actually paint outdoors. Corot, himself a French landscape painter, referred to Boudin as the "King of the Skies". Boudin garnered an intoxicating eulogy from Beaudelaire who referred to his "ces nuages aux formes fantastiques et lumineuses, ces tenebre chaotique, ces immensites vertes et roses .. comme une boisson catipeuse ou comme l'eloquence de l'opium. Very good .
