Description: New York, NY: New York State Council on the Arts, (1971). (1971). - Folio, 14 inches high by 11 inches wide. A portfolio of 50 evocative black & white photographs by Joseph Consentino printed on heavy stock and housed with a 4 page introductory brochure, itself illustrated with 2 photographs, in a tan slipcase titled in black. The slipcase is slightly soiled and warped with some rubbing and with wear to the bottom edge. There is a tiny stain to the front edge of the brochure with minor creases to the edges and corners of the photographs. Very good. In 1969 and 1970, Joseph Consentino "traveled about farms in New York documenting the 'vanishing' farmer". His evocative photographs capture farm life, farmers and the daily activities such as milking by hand on a small dairy farm, farm children looking out the rolled down back window of a station wagon on a Sunday afternoon, hauling a wheelbarrow in Winter, buying a cotton picker, wild flowers, the soil being tilled for planting, and throughout, the essential migrant workers from Mexico, Jamaica, and other countries depicted at work and rest. Very good .
