Title: Mrs. Gilpin's Frugalities: Remnants, and 200 Ways of Using Them

Color pictorial boards backed with a maroon cloth spine, with color lithographs illustrating the front & rear covers. All edges stained red. The boards are rubbed and slightly soiled along the edges. The cloth is split along the joints and there is a small piece out from the head of the spine. xv, [i], 102 & [2] pages. The hinges have been repaired with early gray cloth tape, the endpapers are slightly foxed with some dampstaining to the bottom edge of the rear endpaper and last 4 leaves, with slight chipping and a tiny tear to the bottom edge of the front endpaper. Except for some occasional light minor stains, the contents are in quite good condition.

First edition. An early Scribner publication by the author of "The Book of Forty Puddings" and "The Invalid's Tea-Tray", with wonderful 19th Century recipes which make use of left-overs. The Library of Congress and The Easton Press considered this unusual American cookbook of sufficient significance, that they recently issued a facsimile reproduction of this work. Good .
