The head and tail of the spine are bumped and there is a tiny stain to the rear cover. vi, [ii], 309 & [1] pages, illustrated with a frontispiece and 3 plates, including one depicting the author with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The frontispiece is detached, but present, with a tiny tear to it's front edge and the half title is starting. A previous owner's name has been cut out from the front endpaper. The blurb, cut from the missing dust jacket, is mounted to the rear pastedown. Good. First edition. "Mr. Bird came over to England to investigate the present position of Spiritualism. He was not a Spiritualist himself, and kept an absolutely impartial mind on the subject. Accompanied by Sir A. Conan Doyle, Mr. Bird had seances with most of the best known mediums, including John Sloan, Mrs. Leonard, Evan Powell, and William Hope.
