The corners of the covers are rubbed & there is light rubbing to the leather. Half-title, title & 288 pages. The fore-edge & bottom edge are lightly foxed. The pages are darkened & there is foxing or staining to the margins of several pages. Despite its flaws, a very good, handsomely bound book.

Arthur Leon Imbert de Saint-Amand [1834-1900] was a nineteenth-century French aristocrat, choreographer and historian of his times. He is best known for his accounts, often imbued with firsthand information, of the French aristocracy.

This volume deals with the youth of Marie Amelie [1782-1866] who later became Queen of France when her husband Louis-Philippe, Duke of Orleans acceded to the French throne following the July Revolution of 1830.
