Title: Songs for the Fourth of July: Time the Weekly Newsmagazine Presents a Selection of Revolutionary Favorites.
Description: (New York): Time, [1976]. [1976]. - Quarto [11-5/8 inches high by 8-3/8 inches wide], softcover. Four songs are laid into a gray stiff paper portfolio in French fold printed in blue. The portfolio is very lightly rubbed with the bottom corners slightly creased. There is a publisher's note printed in blue on its inside front cover. Each of the 4 songs consists of a sheet of cream paper folded once to form 4 sides. Each includes a bright color illustration by Paul Davis on the first side, followed by the words and music of the song with a note on the origins of the song on the 4th side. There is some light staining or foxing to the 4th side of each song with a small chip to the front margin of 1 illustration. A red, white & blue ribbon, which is used to hold the songs in place, is stapled to the inside rear cover of the portfolio. Very good. The songs are "Yankee Doodle", "The Liberty Song", "What a Court Hath Old England" and "Ode for American Independence". The publisher notes that the songs were originally published as broadsides and were immensely popular throughout the Colonies during the Revoluionary years and the early days of the Republic.
