Ralph Wolfe Cowan [b.1931] is an American portrait painter. He is the last of a dying breed -- the painter of kings. He has painted more reigning monarchs than any other artist in history. When Donald Trump bought Mar-a-Lago in the late 1980s Cowan wanted to paint the owner of a place that still had the mid-century glamor and mystique that he remembered from a visit there in his youth. He titled his portrait "The Visionary". Good .
