Title: An Original Drawing of the Cartoon Character Hazel, Inscribed to Donna & Signed by the Cartoonist Ted Key.
Description: Circa [1976]. [1976]. - A large original pen-and-ink drawing of cartoonist Ted Key's character Hazel on 10-1/2 inch high by 8 inch wide creamy white paper. The drawing depicts Key's bossy household maid Hazel from the waist up, smiling with hands on her hip. The drawing is boldly inscribed as if Hazel has spoken the words "Love That Donna!" at top left of the image and further inscribed & signed "Best wishes to Donna! / Ted Key & Hazel" across the bottom. The corners and edges are lightly creased and there are two vertical creases down the page. Very good.

Ted Key [1912-2008], born Theodore Keyser, was an American cartoonist and writer. The single panel cartoon "Hazel" was his most famous creation. "Hazel" is said to have come to him in 1943 in a dream, which he drew the next morning and sent to the Saturday Evening Post, where it was accepted and began running regularly. Key later adapted his comic panel into the television show "Hazel" starring Shirley Booth. Very good .
