First edition.
Signed by the author on the title page with the date "Jan. 27, 1942". There is an alteration in green ink, presumably made by the author, to the last line of the first story, "The Ram".
The author came to the United States from Syria as a penniless immigrant, determined to educate himself, to earn his livelihood and to develop free self-expression.
This self-published collection of brief "novelettes and short stories" is preceded by a lengthy preface in which the author writes about The Christian Party, which he founded a year before publication and which aimed to create "the perfect Church and the perfect State".
