Title: Henry of Navarre and the Religious Wars.
Description: Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott Company, 1895. 1895. - Large octavo [9-7/8 inches high by 7 inches wide], blue cloth titled in gilt on the spine & in gilt within a decorative gilt panel on the front cover. The top edge is gilt. The binding is lightly bumped & rubbed with some minor white spotting to the front cover. 307 pages. Illustrated with 4 plates with tissue guard, 3 sepia-toned & 1 in black & white, & with black-and-white textual illustrations. Very good.

Inscribed by the author at the top of the title page to Civil War veteran Louis Livingston: "To Col. Livingston / with the compliments of the author / Edward Blair". Livingston, a member of the notable Dutchess County, New York family, was a Captain and later Aide de Camp in the 1st Brigade, 1st Division of the XII Corps. He served under General Samuel Crawford and was breveted to Major for his service at Antietam and to Lieutenant Colonel for "conspicuous gallantry" at Gettysburg. Very good .
