The endpapers & the edges of the pastedowns are darkened and the rear hinge is just starting. The page edges are slightly darkened. A good reading copy.

"Reprinted, with corrections and additions, from the Biographical History of Gonville and Caius College." John Caius was a sixteenth-century physician, appointed physician to Edward VI and Elizabeth I. While attending to his busy practice in London around the middle of the century, he conceived the idea of enlarging "that pore howse now called Gonville Halle" so as to make it almost a new college, a project to which he donated both land and money. He became the master of the college in 1559.
