Profuse black-and-white photographic illustrations by Georges Pierre. The book is cracked at page 6 and there is a small area of rubbing to the front endpaper. Fair.

"Masques exposes dans l'Annexe du musee Guimet en decembre 1959, avec la collaboration de la section des Sciences religieuses de l'Ecole pratique des Hautes Etudes et son Centre documentaire d'Histoire des Religions. Les commentaires accompagnant les photographies ont ete empruntes au catalogue de l'exposition qui a ete realisee avec le concours de la Reunion des Musees Nationnaux par Henriette Demoulin-Bernard".

The masks discussed here were exhibited at the musee Guimet in 1959. The explanatory captions to the photographs are by Henriette Demoulin-Bernard and are taken from the catalog for that exhibition. The preface is by Roger Caillois.
