Title: The Essays of Michel de Montaigne (3-Volume Set, in George B. Ives Translation)
Description: New York: The Heritage Press, [c.1960s-70s]. Hardcover. A three-volume set, 2 of which present the essays of France's Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592). A third volume serves as a handbook to the essays in the first two. These works rendered into English by George B. Ives; with decorations at heading of each essay. Volumes bear 1946 date, but possibly published c.1960s-70s. Sandglass leaflet laid in (New York, no. 31R). --- Handsomely bound in colorful marbled paper-covered boards, each backed in brown cloth with spine titling & decorations in gilt. Each volume housed in its own grey paper-covered slipcase. --- With white scuffs to volume 2, otherwise this set is in excellent condition: clean, tightly-bound and bright. Structurally sound slipcases with a little discoloration, otherwise lacking apparent damages.
