When first made public, the art met with disapproval but is now considered some of the finest in the ukiyo-e category. The artworks are presented in both black & white and color; many of which fold out. 48 plates, 30 in full color. Text rendered into English by Paul C. Blum, from the original Japanese text of Ichitaro Kondo. --- A softcover edition, with French flaps.
