A colour lithographic plate of spine for the book to be published affixed to back endpaper section of this sample. This book has a Blue cover with gold print and rendering of the U.S. Capital. Prior owners gift inscription dated 1904 on front endpaper. Contents otherwise clean and bright. Bound in the rear is the publisher's description of the book with the prices for the available bindings. This is followed by several pages of lined paper for taking down customer orders. None of them in this rare book have been used. There are many plate examples from this extensively illustrated work include portraits of important persons in the conflict, military life in the tropics, and American military and naval ships.
