Both covers ( boards) are available. Volume 2, 503 pages, has both front and back (boards) covers with spine attached but hinges are cracked and weak. Marbled end-papers. Textual block contents clean and tight with no underlining or highlighting or writing. Former owners name written neatly on end-paper of volume 2 looks to be T.P. Potter, 1813. Vol. 1 has publication date of 1809 and Volume 2's date is 1810. "Nathan Drake (15 January 1766 – 1836), English essayist and physician, son of Nathan Drake, an artist, was born in York, England. He is well known for his book summarizing the knowledge of Shakespeare available at the time." Drake's works include several volumes of literary essays (of which these volumes are included), and some papers contributed to medical periodicals.Drake's contributions to general literature consist chiefly of miscellaneous essays, critical, narrative, biographical, and descriptive, which were favourably received at the time of publication.
