He accompanies in his pages the strenuous days of Hernán Cortés, following him through the faithful gaze of his chronicler and assistant Bernal Díaz del Castillo, a well-versed and passionate connoisseur of the different hairs and hoists of horses. Follow then the steps of Hernando de Soto ('one of the most congenial conquerors'), on his trip to Peru in the footsteps of Pizarro, and then on his arrival in Cuba and on the landing in the Peninsula of Florida. The conquest of the Rio de la Plata is approached through Felix de Azara and the English Jesuit Falkner, with whom he evokes the epics of Mendoza, Irala and Garay. With them, locates in the few horses that brought in the middle of the XVI century the origin of the legendary wild horses that a few years later had been deployed to the whole width of the pampas, already forming a substantial part of its landscape."
