Title: How to Pack Your Hartmann Cushion Top Wardrobe Trunk
Description: S. l. (Milwaukee, WI), Hartmann, 1923. First edition presumed, n. d. (ca 1923); 5 3/4 x 4; pp. 2-31 [1]; off-white, pictorial wraps; illustrated from photographs; light wear to wraps; in very good to near fine condition. Hartmann luggage, known for its fine-quality, luxury pieces, was established in 1877 in Milwaukee by German-American trunkmaker Joseph Hartmann. The wardrobe trunk, first becoming popular during the Industrial Revolution, when travel was dominated by the railroads, would be greatly improved in 1923, when Hartmann pioneered the cushion top for wardrobe trunks, which would ensure that coat hangers could remain stationary, in order to prevent creasing. The current booklet gave detailed, step-by-step directions for packing a trunk with a cushion top, while it also highlighted and advertised various parts and mechanisms of the trunk. Very good .
