Title: A Pair of Silver Star Baking Powder with Roller-Skating Theme
Description: Buffalo, NY, Clay and Richmond, 1880. Two large trade cards, n. d. (ca 1880); 5 1/4 x 3 1/4; lithographed illustrations with text below the images; light wear to edges and a few minor, faint spots to recto; in very good condition. A lovely pair of trade cards, they advertised the Silver Star Baking Powder, manufactured by Edward Canby in Dayton, Ohio. The first one featured a dapper gentleman on roller skates, starting to lose his ballance, his hat flying, and yelling: "Oh, my! Hand me that can of Silver Star Baking Powder. I wouldn't lose that for a great deal!" The second one showed a lady in resplendent Victorian attire, skating and proclaiming: "We use Silver Star Baking Powder only. It agrees with us. Very good .
