Title: Something New. A Sunday Outing to Ausable Chasm
Description: Rutland, VT, Rutland Railroad - New York, Boston, Montreal Line, 1916. First Edition. Broadside; 16 x 6 1/4; printed in red and illustrated from a photograph; old vertical crease lines; a few nicks and cuts to edges; two spots with small loss of paper to top and bottom edge; in good condition. The Rutland Railroad was located primarily in Vermont, but also extending into parts of Canada, Bosston, and New York. Apart from passengers, it would become infamous for carrying cheese, milk, and other specialty dairy products. Chartered in 1843, the Rutland and Burlington Railroad would be renamed to the Rutland Railroad in 1867. Although very popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries, it would close down in 1961 due to financial difficulties. The excursion advertised here was exclusively arranged as a day trip to Ausable Chasm - a sandstone gorge in Upstate New York, called the Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks. As the special fare was advertised as "only $1.50 for the round trip," no children's tickets were to be sold. Good .
