(ca 1842); 5 1/2 x 4 1/2; pp. [1], 6-106; pictorial, yellow wraps, designed by Alonzo Hartwell (1805 - 1873) and tied with a string - appear to have been originally padded with a second, printed leaf, as published; illustrated with woodcuts; loss of paper to spine cover and a few closed tears to wraps; occasional spotting, not affecting readability; a bit of wear to edges; in good or better condition. An unusual edition, the children's bible was published in a rebus form, with most of the nouns in each sentence replaced by small wood engravings. Prose explanations of the hieroglyphic sentences could be found at the foot of each page. Good .
