First edition; 7 3/4 x 5; pp. [9], vi-xi, [2], 10-508, [2]; embossed green cloth over boards, decorated with a gilt vignette to front board and gilt title to spine; illustrated with portrait frontis, an engraving of Lincoln Cathedral, and four fold-out maps; small, rubbed spots to tips of spine and corners; occasional minor smudge to page margins; in very good condition. James Frothingham Hunnewell (1832 - 1910) was a businessman, historian, philanthropist, and antiquarian, who traveled extensively and wrote several bibliographies - of the Hawaiian Islands and Bunker Hill among them, as well as travel narratives, including the current one describing the land of Sir Walter Scott. Very good .
