Signed and dated on ffep by Helen L. Bull. Rice Cook Bull (1842 - 1930) was an author and Union Army Sergeant, who would take part of General Sherman's March to the Sea - one of the most destructive campaigns against civilians during the entire war. After mustering out, he would become Secretary-Treasurer of the Troy and New England Railroad and would pen his war experiences in his current book, which would later be transcribed by his son George Mairs Bull. It would be considered by many historians one of the finest first-hand accounts of an enlisted man in the Civil War. K. Jack Bauer would use a typescript of those recollections for the published edition. Helen L. Bull (1890 - 1985), who had signed the book, was Rice Bull's youngest child. Very good .
