Title: Hunt's Recipe Matches
Description: Wadsworth, OH, The Ohio Match Company, 1968. A complete set, unused, 50 matchbooks in a card stock box - minor age-toning and wear - in near fine condition; pictorial wrapper very fragile, with tears and splits, but no significant loss. Issued as an advertisement for various Hunt's products, each colorful matchbook in the set contained a recipe with said products to verso, including Oven Stew Italiano, Little Loaves, and Hotdog Surprise. It also advertised a fondue cookbook offer. Hunt's was founded in 1888 in Sebastopol, California, as the Hunt Bros. Fruit Packing Co. by brothers Joseph and William Hunt. Initially manufacturing canned fruits, vegetables, and soup - by the 1930s, after a change in ownership, the company would shift focus to canned tomato products and particularly - tomato paste.
