Title: Roma Market, San Francisco Trade Card
Description: San Francisco, By the proprietors, 1900. First Edition. Trade card, n. d. (ca 1900); round card stock, 3 1/2 in diameter; chromolithograph illustration and poem to recto, text within an elaborate border to verso; a few minor spots to verso; in very good or better condition. A beautiful trade card, it advertised the Roma Market on the corner of Hayes and Franklin streets in San Francisco at the turn of the 20th century. According to its co-owner Vecchio, it was "unsurpassed by any other Market..(and it) also resembles a lady's parlor for neatness and elegance.." Founding the business in the late 1800s, Italian-American Mike Belluomini was joined by Americo Ghianada in ca 1900, the latter to later become one of the largest orange growers and packers in Northern California. The market wwould be completely destroyed in earthquake and fire in 1906. Near fine .
