Ilia Britan (1885 - 1941) was a poet, publicist, and lawyer, who would be persecuted, arrested, and eventually expelled from Russia in 1923 for advocating in front of Lenin for the rights of non-Party members of the Mossoviet (abbreviation for Moscow Soviet - a shadow city administration of the city between the February and the October revolutions and the official city administration during the Soviet period). His current booklet, one of extreme criticism of Soviet policies, written in the form of a letter, was allegedly received by Britan from one of the high-ranking figures of the Communist Party - Nikolai Bukharin (1888 - 1938) - who would indeed be charged with conspiring to overthrow he Soviet State in 1937 and would be executed in 1938. Four years after this publication, in 1928, the letter was openly credited to Bukharin and published by the "Die Weltbühne" journal. Britan moved to France in 1938, was arrested as a foreign national of Jewish origin in 1941, sent to a concentration camp, and executed in December of the same year. Uncommon, with 3 copies at US institutions and none in the trade. Very good .
