The Chicago School of Nursing was a correspondence school, founded by Dr. Orville Juan Perkins in 1899 and incorporated in 1909. Its course was billed as "the first, largest and most popular of the home study nursing programs" and encompassed 53 lessons. Examinations were administered periodically by mail and the exam questions could be found at the end of the lessons. Although the lessons did provide thorough theorethical knowledge, it could not offer valuable, hands-on experience and the program was shut down sometime in the mid-20th century. Good .
