First edition, stand-alone volume, part 3; 9 1/2 x 7 3/4; pp. [1], 2-31, [1]; stapled, light-brown wraps, printed and ruled in black; mimeographed text; paper along spine fragile with a closed cut and small loss of paper to tail; crease to upper corner; previous owner's signature and date to front wrap; in good to very good condition. Petro Isaiv (1905 - 1973) was a historian, journalist, and educator. During WWII, he was Head of the educational department of the Ukrainian Central Committee and edited several periodicals. He left Ukraine for Germany in 1944 and spent several years at various DP (displaced persons) camps, before permanently emigrating to Philadelphia in 1949, where he continued writing, particularly on Ukrainian church history. Published in a DP camp in Germany and part of a series, each volume written by a different author, his current work was published on the 350th anniversary of the 1596 Union of Brest-Litovsk, which would ultimately contribute to the Khmelnytsky Uprising in Ukraine. Very good .
