Title: A Small Archive of Photographs, Documenting a 19th-Century Trip to Moscow
Description: S. l. s. n. 1890. Twelve albumen prints, affixed to loose photo-album sheets, n. d. (late 19th-century); images aprrox. 6 1/4 x 8 1/4; barely-visible, pencilled, manuscript captions; upper corners of a few of the photos with small wrinkles (from being glued); two of them with small, closed cuts to edges; overall in very good condition. A fabulous collection of images, it documented a 19th-century trip to Moscow of an American (?) traveller. All, but one of the photographs featured images of landmarks and views of the city, mostly centered around the Kremlin, including the Big Bell (Tsar Bell), the Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, the Novodevichii Convent, the Triumphal Arch of Moscow, several different views of the Kremlin, etc. A few of them also showed random people, including a peasant with a small stand, selling (?) an unidentifiable product and a horse-drawn cart along the Moskva River. Very good .
