Title: Two Letters with Horoscopes by Astrologer Fredrick White
Description: Crystal Bay, MN, By the author, 1933. Two typed letters, dated 1933 and 1935; 11 x 8 1/2; pp. [4] and [8] respectively; the first one on two loose leaves and the second on four leaves stapled at the top margin; old crease lines; the first letter with a few small nicks and cuts around the edges and a bit of foxing to second leaf only; the second with uniform age-toning; overall in very good condition. Fredrick White (1866 - ?), astrologer, author, editor of the Adept and publisher of the American Ephemeries journals, and educator in the science of astrology, was a machinist and electrician by education. Purportedly, he was in Chicago during the Panic of 1893, when he became interested in occult matters and, encouraged by people, who "appreciated his work in this line, he plunged deeper in the study." He eventuaslly moved to Minneapolis, where he set up his creative and publishing business. The two letters, spaced two years apart, both addressed one Mrs. Erna Taylor (resident of San Francisco, according to research) and discussed her horoscope, "progressed" by Fredrick himself. Interestingly enough, in the first letter of 1933, while advising Taylor on making investments, White went on to expansively explain that the reasons for the Depression were "a series of bad aspects between Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.." that some stocks were better to buy into, than others, and that the lady's chart had favorable periods to play the lottery. Very good .
