First edition in book form (initially published in 1951 in the "Shliakh" journal); 9 1/4 x 6 1/4; pp. [6], 9-63, [1]; beige wraps, illustrated in green and ruled and printed in brown; illustrated with numerous drawings, photographs, and a map; a bit of wear to corners and tips of spine and a small nick to fore-edge of front wrap; staples showing at hinges (text block solidly attached); overall in very good condition. Volodymyr Sichynskyi (1894 - 1962) was a Ukrainian-American graphic artist, architect, and educator. After co-establishing the Architectural Institute in Kiev, he taught in Lviv and Prague, before he was arrested and imprisoned by the Gestapo in 1943. Sichynskyi emigrated to the US in 1949, where he continued writing and working on his architectural designs until his death. His current book, No. I of intended series, but all published, covered Ukrainian church architecture, including the some of the most famous monasteries, churches, and rotundas in the country. Very good .
