Title: Bulgarian Connection: " Cia & Co. On the Outcome of the Antonov Trial
Description: Moscow, Novosti Press Agency Publishing House, 1986. First Edition. First edition in English; 6 1/2 x 4; pp. 3-80; textured, black, pictorial wraps; a bit of creasing along spine and light wear to edges and corners; several passages in the first half of the book underlined; in very good- condition. Sergei Antonov (1948 - 2007) was the Bulgarian, Balkan Airlines representative, arrested for his alleged involvement in the assassination attempt on the life of Pope John Paul II in 1981. Charged with complicity, Antonov was put on trial together with two other Bulgarians and three Turks, including Grey Wolves member Mehmet Ali Agca, who would name Sergei his co-conspirator. Lacking enough evidence against the Bulgarian Secret Service's claimed hiring of the men to carry on the assassination, Antonov was acquited in 1986. Pope John Paul himself rejected the alleged Bulgarian connection. Very good .
