A single issue of a short-lived, 19th-century San Francisco periodical, it was published from February, 1894 until June of 1895, for a total of 49 issues. A crusading newspaper, especially concerned with the corruption of city officials and the power and influence of "big-money" businesses, it targeted particularly often The Southern Pacific Railroad and the author's personal nemesis - Leland Stanford. Arthur McEwen (1851 - 1907) began his journalistic career with the Virginia City Evening Chronicle in the 1870s, before moving to San Francisco to become the Managing Editor of William Randolph Hearst's San Francisco Examiner. He also wrote several works of fiction, which were published in various periodicals. He would eventually move to the East Coast to help John Wanamaker (1838 - 1922) in his crusade against "political machines." . Very good .
