Bernarr Adolphus Macfadden (1868 - 1955) was a businessman, publisher, and a great proponent of physical culture and proper nutrition. He has been hailed as the forebearer of fitness and health consciousness in the United States. His current book was originally published in 1899, was quite successful, and went through several editions very quickly, although few copies have survived. In it, the author emphasized his belief that with proper attention and care, no man or woman would ever go bald. Chapters included causes of hair loss, scalp massage, washing, destroying microbes, and so on. He also advertised his patented "Cradle Pneumatic Scalp Masseur" and another one of his works - "Macfadden's Physical Training. Very good .
