Benjamin Fiske Barrett (1808 - 1892) was a pastor, author, and publisher, who became interested in Unitarianism, while attending Bowdoin College and later, Harvard Divinity School. He became ordained in the Unitarian Church in 1838. He would later become Pastor of the First Society of the New Jerusalem Church in New York. Also known as The New Church, it was influenced by the writings of Swedish Lutheran theologian Emanuel Swedenborg (1688 - 1772). The current book, the second major work of many on Swedenborg and the church, of Benjamin Barrett, contained a series of lectures he had delivered, which were aimed at making the doctrines of the Church of New Jerusalem more widely known in the city of New York. Very good .
