An early, 19th-century edition of Chekhov's beloved tale of the adventures of a little dog, it was originally published in 1887 in the "Novoe vremia" newspaper under the title "In Learned Society" and in book form under its current name in 1892. Well received and quick to gain popularity, the story went through six separate editions just between 1893 and 1899. Very good .
