After being chased from Russia in 1922, he emigrated first to Berlin and then to Paris, where he would work as a Professor at the Orthodox Theological Institute. In his current book, Vysheslavtsev explored a man's ethical and religious life in relation to the Absolute. According to him, the conventional moral laws could not guide human behavior successfully, as their rationality would be overpowered by "the irrational antagonism that stems from man's subconscious.
