A beautiful and quite lavish work, it presents 10 famous landmarks in Salem from the time of the Witchcraft Trials in the 17th century Colonial America and most of them still standing at the time of publication. Included are the House of Roger Williams, the founder of the State of Rhode Island, later occupied by Jonathan Corwin, Esq. one of the Judges of the Special Court during the trials, and The Hunt House, said to have inspired Hawthorne's "House of the Seven Gables.
