Published by the Heyeck Press of Woodside, California - known for producing fine, limited editions of poetic works and for their hand-marbled paper for over 3 decades - the poetry-and-program booklet was presented, as a keepsake, to the friends of Diane Middlebrook and Carl Djerassi at their wedding. Diane Middlebrook (1939 - 2007) was a poet, writer, and educator. She taught Feminist Studies at Stanford University and was the author of critically acclaimed biographies of Sylvia Plath (together with Silvia's husband Ted Hughes) and Ann Sexton. Carl Djerassi (1923 - 2015) was an Austrian-born Bulgarian-American scientist, author, and playwright, who was the co-inventor of the first contraceptive pill. He was Middlebrook's third husband.
